Abusive relationships= suicide, drugs, unwanted kids, abortion, wife-bashing, poverty, prostitution, the list could go on. And yes, those things are extreme, but we live in an extreme world where anything like this is possible, and happens on a day-to-day program.

ive read all the twilight books (my girlfriend *suggested it*) and i agree some of the aspects of the book truly suck ass, your right about the edward bella thing, theres no depth, she never gets past describing his body, but there was cool aspects of it, the fighting for example, i thought that was pretty cool, although in retrospect my biggest problem with twilight is everyone got wat they wanted in some form or another, jacob found a mate, bella got edward AND a daughter, and her father, and mothers support, whilst leah shacked up with somone cant reember who, and pretty much no one died who should havem, so yeah when i hear "shes not that great, shes an average author who wrote an average book" i can completely agree with that, however the few, and i mean FEW twi-hards who have attacked people, non of which i belive are true on here, are just the ones who obsess over everything, there not really twi-hards, its just the latest thing ot obsess over, the next kelly armstrong book to come out or teven king book and theyll all be diehard werewolf fans or clown lovers you know - so in conclusion i dont belive twilight is as good as everyone says, but it isnt the worst book ive ever read either.

2009-05-12 [Eyes of the Reaper]: At least Ms. Armstrong can write (I happen to be a fan of her Darkest Powers series) and it's not a mushy, whiny teen-romance book with super-hot guys. They're average looking. One is intelligent and the heroine is pretty--not gorgeous, just pretty.

One book that's "Twilight-esque" (though written 1000x better) that I enjoyed was Evermore by Alyson Noel. It's a love story with a supernatural--but that's all that it has in common as far as I'm concerned.

Her syntax is terrible.
The plot lines have major holes in them.
Many other reasons too, but I can't be bothered explaining them at the moment.
Her books are really frustrating to read, when people compare her to J.K. Rowling, it's frustrating! Rowling can write, Smeyer, can't.

I have heard that a romance novel involving blood sucking monsters are real hard to make a good impact on, yet there is one author I admire who has achieved that feat, Sherrilyn Kenyon; she writes books based on Greek Gods, vampires, monsters and other creepy crawlies in the world and they all have a romantic bit to it, it's really cool...unlike some other teeny-filled stack of toilet paper also known as Twilight...but yeah...the gaps in the plot is really annoying...and the speed at which the characters fall in love with each other is just rediculous, bleghh....

Well, when you put it that way, I suppose it would be so much better reading x-rated romance novels rather than watching porno Dvds because I guess the imagining of it would be so much better...like most romance movies; their too soppy and it's crap. With books, you can add your own mental flair. The supernatural storylines of Kenyon's books are really good.

2009-05-14 [Noble]: yeah well i get what your saying, the syntax of the book frustrated me too, and the character depth drove me insane, if theres one thing i must have in a book its background, characters with depth, and possibley a sperate book til fill in their exploits before and after, kida like the silmarrillion with lotr, explianed the history of middle earth and such.

or the dark tower, which ties in with things like salems lot and has whole books devoted to past parts of the protagonists life, thats the type of book i like to read.

But, I have found these AMAZING arguements about why the whole plot is terrible, and I think those deserve to be up here more.
