Halloween Prose Contest 2005 entry

I crepted across the snow drift moors where it is said that ghosts and ghouls come out to play at night. My heart raced and the adrenaline coursed speedily thoughout my body when I heard the call on the wind, it sang like an angel but the demons sang it and the night grew dark. I hoped to see a light in the dark signifying a home and somewhere dry to stay but moor demons taunted me with their song of hope and light, I began to feel as if I were being drawn into their world and would never escape, I breathed in heavily the cold nights air as I ran through the snow hastily. You could hear my heart beat echoing across the moor and the demons laughter at my fear and witches cackle as they flew over my head. Was I in a halloween world or in my own world? I dropped and kept low to the ground hoping nothing would see me, a stampeed of hooves could be heard thundering on the distant ground, but I kepted moving and breathing as fear began taking over my mind, until finally I came across a small thatched cottage with a light beaming out, I sighed with relief and got up and began to run. As I ran, I felt something wrap around my leg, I kepted running fearing for my life. I reached the cottage door and it was left open, I clambered in and locked the door fast, before calming myself and looking around.
The cottage was small and cozy, and unlike any other home I had seen in my lifetime. I heard laughter coming from in the living room as I sat in the kitchen drinking a cold drink of something red I found in the fridge. I went to investigate and there was no one there but as I turned a woman with pearly white skin, sapphire blue eyes, lips as red as a rose petal and silvery hair, stared into my face, I jumped back and bumped into a man of the same look. She smiled daintly at the man before looking at me, "Welcome to our home stranger, we hope that the moors didn't treat you to badly this evening?"
"No not at all!" I replied quietly, scared out of my wits.
The man placed his hand upon my neck and kissed my cheek whilst gazing upon my neck, the woman on the otherhand had vanished from sight in a instant, I was entranced in the mans beauty and the elegance that surrounded him. My heart was all a flutter as he led me up the stairs and along the darkened corridor. He opened a door and took me in, closing it quietly behind him. As soon as the door was closed he thrusted me upon the bed, and kissed on my neck before coming up and smiling, it was then I saw the fangs glistening in the moonlight. My eyes widened and I went to scream but he gently placed his finger upon my mouth and I went silent, I couldn't move it felt as though I was paralyzed in his beauty, "This will hurt a little" he whispered in my ear. After that I felt a sharp pain in my neck and I went limp, I could feel a gentle tickle of blood being sucked out of my body as I went icy cold, he lifted his head up and I saw the blood on his fangs, he licked them clean and said, "Now it is your turn to drink blood" he pulled his shirt off and with a single long nail he cut his chest and place my mouth upon the cut, the urge to drink the blood was unbearable and so I did, I felt my energy return to me instantly but I changed as I drank more of his blood. He licked his lips and lifted my chin, "You are beautiful now and you are also like me" he said turning my head to a mirror. I saw no reflection of him or I, then I touched his face and then my own, "What are we then?" I asked with a fright, he only smiled and said "We are creatures of the night." Now I prowl these haunted moors looking for mortals to lure to the cottage for my coven to feed on.
