Ranmaru is a character from a sidestory of the Anime and as such is not considered canon by most fans. Ranmaru is a young orphan from Hidden Mist village. Although formally paralyzed, his bloodline dojutsu allows him to see through walls and create illusions with real Chakra circulatory systems, as well as interfering with the usage of the Byakugan and other vaguely defined powers relating to vision. When activated, the bloodline causes his eyes to and body to momentarily glow red. After befriending Raiga, he was able to move around on Raiga's back, in return using his bloodline abilities to help Raiga in combat.

Before meeting Naruto and the rest of the team, he always thought that he lived for Raiga. However, after tasting Curry of Life and becoming physically stronger, he felt what it meant to be alive for the first time and slowly began to understand that he is in control of his own life. As Naruto points out, he desires to laugh and share joy with other people, rather than just with Raiga. Realizing this, Ranmaru decides to betray the only person that ever cared for him and even tries to kill Raiga, arguably going against one of the series' most important messages, always take care of your precious person. In the end, he becomes an apprentice at the Curry of Life shop and leads a quiet life from then on.
