Hatake Sakumo, also known as Konoha's White Fang (木ノ葉の白い牙, Konoha no Shiroi Kiba) after the special white chakra he used, is the father of Hatake Kakashi. He was once as respected as the Legendary Sannin, but fell in disgrace after he failed a mission. This mission was vital to Konohagakure and the failure caused the village to suffer great losses. Sakumo failed it because he chose the lives of his comrades over the success of the mission. Dishonoured, Sakumo comitted seppuku. His father's failure and suicide caused Kakashi to lead his life strictly according to the Ninja code. Sakumo left his White Chakra Sabre (白光チャクラ刀, Hakkō Chakura Tō) to Kakashi. This blade utilises the Hatake's special white chakra. It was cut in half during a fight between Kakashi and an Iwagakure shinobi. Sakumo was the enemy of Chiyo's son, who might also be Sasori's father.
