Fact from the album's making
-Although James Root is credited as a guitarist alongside Mick Thomson, most of his tracks were recorded by his predecessor, Josh Brainard. Josh left shortly after recording the album and it's he who appears on the album cover, not James.
-The title "742617000027" comes from the UPC of their first album, Mate.Feed.Kill
.Repeat.
-Josh Brainard (former Slipknot guitarist) recorded every song on Slipknot except "Purity". Josh departed the band shortly before the band finished recording, allowing James Root, whom replaced Josh to finish the last song, Purity. Purity later was only distributed on a limited amount of CD's due to a lawsuit that threatened the band.
-The album is often referred by fans as "Slipknot S/T", much like Metallica's eponymous album is called the "Black Album", probably to avoid misunderstanding when talking about Slipknot or their first widely released album.
-A slightly different version of Wait and Bleed, called Wait and Bleed (Terry Date Mix) is featured on the Scream 3 soundtrack.
