No! is the name of They Might Be Giants' ninth album, and first specifically for children. It was released on June 11, 2002.
Most (but not all) childrens' music is of very low production value; TMBG wanted to raise the bar and create an album of songs that didn't talk down to its listeners. What started out as just a fun side-project stemming from their work on the hit TV show
Malcolm In the Middle, became a surprise hit with not only children, but also many longtime fans (some of whom had kids themselves by this time).
The album debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Kid Audio chart, and spent 11 weeks total on the chart before dropping off. It also spent 5 weeks on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart, peaking at #4.
Some of the tracks debuted on TMBG's Dial-A-Song service, and one was even found on their
Long Tall Weekend album.
