You know, I saw down to write this month's edition of Literally Speaking, and I drew a complete blank. My mind is tied up with DK Events, To11Designs, the Air Force, my speeding ticket, Michael's holiday, and soo much more... I just can't think straight. So here instead of a traditional column is my recipe for the perfect holiday hot chocolate!

Kaite's Holiday Hot Chocolate:

Ingredients

  * 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  * 1 1/2 cups milk
  * 1/4 cup sugar
  * 1/8 teaspoon salt
  * 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  * 3 drops peppermint oil
  * Sweetened whipped cream, for garnish
  * Chocolate shavings, for garnish
  * Red and white striped candy cane, for stirring

Directions

  In a saucepan, combine the cream, milk, sugar, and salt and heat over medium-low heat. When the cream mixture just begins to steam, add the chopped chocolate, and stir, until melted. Stir in the peppermint oil. Divide the hot chocolate among mugs and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Unwrap your candy cane, and stir idly while you sip and wait for it to snow!
