"Can it be love?" [Part II]

As Gabe is driving, he can't help but to glance at her every five seconds in the rear-view mirror. She looked so beautiful.

Every once in a while she would nervously look his way and caught him staring at her. When she did, he quickly looked back at the road as if he was just glancing mistakingly.
Alaina just giggled a little to herself. She couldn't stand the awkward silence anymore.

"So," she says. "How has your day been so far?"

He smiles and thinks to himself, "A rush, a pannic, hell, and yet so incredibly unbelievable."

He turns to her and speaks, "My day?" He says with a slight sigh. "My day has been... pretty good. What about yours?"

She shrugs, "My day's been good. I was a nervous wreck until about ten minutes ago." Laughs a little and looks back down at the rose and cant help but blush.

Smiling Gabe stops at the stop sign and turns to her, "Alaina?"

She looks at him puzzled and smiles, "Yes...Gabe?"

"Do you really want to go OUT tonnight. I mean to a fancy restaraunt and whatnot?"

She turns and thinks, "Well...Honestly, I wouldn't mind not going. But what are we going to do dressed like this?" She laughs.

He takes a deep breath in and has a cocky smile on his face. "I know just where to go." He turns back to the road and goes in the opposite direction of Anthony's.

Alaina can't help but laugh at his change in plans so suddenly. But knowing Gabe, it shouldn't be unexpected. He's one of the most spontaneous guys she's ever met. One of the great traits he has.

After another ten minutes of pure silence and staring, he finaly pulls up to this old building in the middle of nowhere.

"Umm Gabe? Where are we?" she says confused.

"You'll see." He answers with a huge smile on his face.

He gets out walks around the car and opens the door for her.

"Come on!" He says hastily.

Laughing she says, "Ok ok. Don't have to rush me!"

He grabs her hand and starts walking towards the main doors.

"Are you sure this place is open? It's kind of dark in there." She slows down and looks up at the trees right in front.

"Yeah. Just follow me!" He pulls her along behind him.

Alaina has no clue what to think. But then as he gets closer to the doors she starts having this weird feeling as if she's been here. And it wasn't the building she remembers. It was the surroundings.

He follows the path and veers to the left walking along side the building.

She's in such confusion and he's pulling her so fast he's nearly pulling her arm out of socket.

"Gabe! What's going on?!"

He stops at the corner and turns to look at her. "Ok, now, close your eyes and no peaking!"

Smiling she nods.

"Promise?" He asks.

"Yes Gabe. I promise." And closes her eyes and playfully pretends she's going to peak.

"Alaina don't! You'll Ruin it!" He laughs and covers her eyes with his hands.

"I won't! I was just kidding!" She giggles and pulls his hand off. "I got you going there for a minute though huh?" She laughs at him.

He smiles. "Yeah yeah. Ha Ha Ha very funny. But really don't peak."

"Ok."

He grabs her hands and starts to slowly pull he around to the back of the building.

"Ok. Now when I count to three you can open them." He says excitedly.

Alaina nods slowly.

"Ok." He takes a breath in and starts the countdown.

"One." Looks at her and smiles so big you can almost see every tooth in his mouth.

"Two... Three!"

She opens her eyes and sees nothing but trees and bushes. She looks up for a moment and stares at the treetops.

"Where..." She suddenly stops and spots that one thing he had braught them there for. "It's the treehouse?! How did you...? When did you...? Gabe!" She says in amazement and laughs.

"I was driving around and decided to come to thise spot. Yeah they built that building there but, they left this standing! So..." He laughs. "Remember how much fun we had back when...?"

She laughs and slowly walks upto it. "Oh my gosh, yes! Me, you, and that one kid. What was his name?"

"David." He laughs and looks down shaking his head. "Wow. It has been that long already hasn't it?"

"Yeah it has." She looks back at Gabe, her eyes filled with the memories of the past. "Thank you. For bringing me here i mean. This is just amazing to see again. Truely, the best place i've been to in a long time." She smiles and slowly walks up to him.

"Really? Well, you're very welcome Captain Alaina." He laughs and shakes his head.

She playfully shoves him and smirks. "You're damn right Captain! You know, i don't remember how long it's been since you've called me that General." She laughs at him.

"Oh? Is that where this is going huh?" He says with a smirk.

Alaina slowly looks down for a second, then back up. But, only this time, she finds that his eyes are staring right back into hers. He looked at her with this gaze of awe.

He began moving closer to her. But she couldn't notice until his nose practically met hers. Gabe reached up with his right hand placing it on her left cheek and still won't turn away from her deep, gorgeous, green stare.

She looks down at his hand touching her cheek and tremble slightly. Not able to speak a word.

He finally closes his eyes and presses his forehead against hers and for some reason breathing heavily.

"G...Gabe?" She stutters. "Are you... Ok?"

Gabe nods and slowly looks back up only to meet her eyes again.

"I don't think i could be better." He strokes the side of her face gently. Her skin, softer than a feather. Gentle to the touch. He begins to realize things he never thought would come between them. Feelings he never thought he would have to share with this one woman.

Smiling back nervously at him, she recognizes the look he was giving her. She had nothing to say. She was only thinking one thing, but didn't know how to say it.

He begins to stumble over his words and begins to get those sweatty palms again.

"A...laina..." He says.

She smiles slightly and touches his cheek gently. "Yes... Genral?" She giggles a bit and stares up at him.

He nervously looks down and giggles back at her.

Alaina slowly raises his face back to hers and looks him directly in the eyes. She knew what he wanted to say. She new what she had to do. She took that chance.

"I love you too." She smiles and looks at him.

He slowly raises his head and his heart had skipped a beat. He could only give a sigh of relief and he began to shake. She had hit the target dead on. Gabe couldn't believe she knew. He grabbed her with both hands and pulled her close to him.

"Yes, Captain. I love you." He says shakingly and leans in closer. "May I give you something i've been keeping from you?" He says playfully.

Alaina smiles and nods.

He grabs her tightly and presses his quivering lips directly on to hers. He feels the warm and soft touch of them and his body freezes. He has no deisire to let go. He won't do it. He can't.

She quickly wraps her arms around his neck and kisses him with more passion than she has with any other man in her life. She knew this was it. He was the one. The one she had been looking for and didn't even realize it until after all of these years. It happened there at that very place where they met as kids.
The small things are the things that matter the most in life. Gabe knew that and used it to his advantage. Instead of going on some over-rated date. That leap that they took, put them in places they never thought they would be.

A few years later, Gabe got the guts and preposed to Alaina. They couldn't be happier.
